Our Origins
The founder, Léopold Bouchard, started his business in 1930. At the time,the business specialized in heating, plumbing and electricity. Already, customer service was at the heart of the values advocated by Léopold Bouchard, who was a past master in the art of solving his customers' problems. Mr. Bouchard knew how to surround himself with good employees, so much so that one of them, Guy Bernard, who had married one of his nieces, bought the business in 1964.
Mr. Bernard continued the company's mission until 1986, when he considered taking semi-retirement. His daughter Julie who, from a young age, took pleasure in helping her father by cutting pipes and even installing sinks and hot water tanks, offered to take over the business for six months. A specialized educator by trade, she decides to take unpaid leave to replace her father.
A Succession Full of Ambition
It was in 1991 that Guy Bernard retired definitively and sold the business on the small rue Saint-Robert, in Saint-Romuald, to his daughter Julie. She already has a head full of ideas and is taking the second floor to turn it into a showroom. She begins to sell sanitary appliances (toilets, baths, sinks).
In 1996, Julie Bernard had to move the business to larger premises, with an area of 6,000 sq. ft., located at 2324, boulevard de la Rive-Sud, still in SaintRomuald. Thus, little by little, the new owner introduced the sale of bathroom accessories. At that time, the company had six employees.
In 2003, still short of space, Julie Bernard decided to build a 13,500 sq. ft. building with a warehouse on the 2nd floor and a landing stage. The store then joins the Benjamin Moore banner. The addition of paint, ceramics, fabrics, wallpaper and decorative accessories requires the hiring of qualified personnel trained in interior design.
The company then had more than fifteen employees. Julie Bernard takes to heart the mission that her predecessors had given themselves: satisfying customers and offering professional and personalized service.
Always growing
On April 1, 2004
The store you know today was inaugurated. Leopold Bouchard Inc.becomes Léopold Bouchard, Decoration and Bathrooms. The company is developing a partnership with several plumbing and construction contractors. That year, the business received the Le Stratégique 2004 award as part of the Les Pléiades awards of excellence, organized by the Lévis Chamber of Commerce.
IN 2008
The store received the Mérite commercial Desjardins for the month of June, a prize awarded to private companies that have particularly distinguished themselves in development and innovation. This award allows Léopold Bouchard, Decoration and Bathrooms to be a finalist for the company of the year in the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches regions during the Fidéides.
Today
32 people make up the dedicated team at Decoration and Bathrooms Léopold Bouchard. By succeeding Léopold Bouchard and Guy Bernard, Julie Bernard knew how to adapt the company to the new requirements of its customers by being always on the lookout for novelties in the world of the bathroom, while remaining faithful to the primary mission of its predecessors: to provide the best possible service.
